Summaries and Memories

The last three weeks have been a bit of a blur. Young Parker mentioned in an early blog entry (August/September 2006) died on June 4th. ...Cancer in a child....

Interwoven with Parker's last days, the Fairly Odd Mothers spent much time discussing and planning, and in the end, helped the family as we could with the Memorial Service program, music, and reception.

And our families continued their various endeavors. We had a very nice Memorial Day picnic with relatives, grandparents visited, and after the memorial service, my trip with the Girl Scouts to Great Wolf Lodge was a blast. Storms have been amazing! For the first time in this house (12 years) we didn't turn on the a/c until June. Joyce has a tree in her roof. Yep.

Tomorrow is the last day of school and then we begin the marathon of a well-planned summer.

I think I need to knit...because frankly, I haven't been sleeping well. It seems that my knitting almost ceased when Parker died. I need to knit again and to bury myself in a book. A couple of weeks ago, I finished Donna Leon's latest. Not her best, but I always enjoy a walk through Venice. I just finished Bulls Island, a lovely novel-tour of Charleston and the Low Country. Currently my nightstand holds Animal Vegetable Miracle, which probably won't be finished before it is due back to the library~!
